Selection process
- Requirements framing. Translate structural, thermal, environmental, and manufacturability needs into a scored material matrix.
- Trade studies. Candidate short-list with allowables, cost, lead time, and supply-chain resilience considered together — not just strength-to-weight.
- Risk framing. Flag single-source risk, obsolescence, and export-control implications early, when they can still be designed around.
